Spin glass behavior in FeAl2
نویسندگان
چکیده
Magnetic and transport measurements indicate FeAl2 to be an ordered intermetallic spin glass, with canonical behavior including a susceptibility cusp at T f535 K and frequency-dependent susceptibility below T f . The field-cooled and zero-field-cooled magnetization diverge below T f , with hysteresis characteristic of a spin glass. A resistivity minimum just above T f is explained in terms of coherent magnetic scattering. This behavior is common to spin glasses with short-range interactions among f-electron moments and indicates a similar spin configuration in these materials.

Optical properties of spin-coated Er-doped Ga1As39S60 Chalcogenide thin films
Spin-coating of Chalcogenide glasses is a cost-effective and flexible method to produce thin films applicable in photonics. In this paper Er was doped into Ga1As39S60 glass by melt quenching technique and solutions for spin coating were prepared from glass powders dissolved in Propylamine and Ethylendiamine. Substrates used were microscopic slides (refractive index of about 1.51). Applied layer...
متن کاملSpin glass state in doped La2CuO4
The lightly doped La2CuO4 of the high temperature superconducting Cu oxides shows spin glass behavior at very low temperatures, which reflects the effects of quantum fluctuations and frustration upon doping. Recent neutron scattering experiments revealed a formation of spin stripes at the same low concentration of doping. A specific relation between the two important properties of spin glass be...
متن کاملFinite-size critical scaling in Ising spin glasses in the mean-field regime.
We study in Ising spin glasses the finite-size effects near the spin-glass transition in zero field and at the de Almeida-Thouless transition in a field by Monte Carlo methods and by analytical approximations. In zero field, the finite-size scaling function associated with the spin-glass susceptibility of the Sherrington-Kirkpatrick mean-field spin-glass model is of the same form as that of one...
متن کاملOrientation relationship of eutectoid FeAl and FeAl2
Fe-Al alloys in the aluminium range of 55-65 at.% exhibit a lamellar microstructure of B2-ordered FeAl and triclinic FeAl2, which is caused by a eutectoid decomposition of the high-temperature Fe5Al8 phase, the so-called ∊ phase. The orientation relationship of FeAl and FeAl2 has previously been studied by Bastin et al. [J. Cryst. Growth (1978 ▸), 43, 745] and Hirata et al. [Philos. Mag. Lett. ...
متن کامل- 1 - Spin glass behavior in an interacting γ - Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticle system
In this paper we investigate the superspin glass behavior of a concentrated assembly of interacting maghemite nanoparticles and compare it to that of canonical atomic spin glass systems. ac versus temperature and frequency measurements show evidence of a superspin glass transition taking place at low temperature. In order to fully characterize the superspin glass phase, the aging behavior of bo...
